Growth & marketing for consumer subscription companies
Background
I've spent the better part of two decades inside early-stage consumer subscription companies. One of Strava's first marketing hires, and helped build it from a niche cycling platform into the global athletic community it is today. CGO at The Athletic, where we grew from 300K to 1.2M subscribers through the New York Times acquisition. Most recently CMO at Eternal, a premium health membership. The through-line is passionate niche communities and the exceptional products built to serve them — subscription just happens to be the business model.
Now
After many years on the leadership teams of exceptional companies, I'm applying the pattern recognition, judgment, and perspective I've built in a new way. Consumer tech moves fast; I've seen enough of it to know what to tune out and what to act on. I work fractionally with a small number of founder-led consumer subscription companies, at the stage where growth and marketing infrastructure actually needs to get built.
